Team Member Spotlight: Dean

With any great company, there is a team of worker bees behind the scenes, turning the cranks and greasing the gears to keep everything running smoothly. With a company of professional event photographers, there is a team of employees to speak to customers, take photographs, run the office, and of course, edit the photos. That is why we have decided to focus on each of our hard working employees our Team Member Spotlight.  This is our first run, so who better to be our test monkey than our dedicated Graphics Ninja (yes, that is his official title), Dean Milenkovic.

Dean wears many hats at the Christie's office - from graphic design, to image editing, to developing new technology, and even working onsite at events.  Below are some fun facts and tidbits about Christie's Graphics Ninja.

Dean sat down with Emily this week to answer a few questions for the blog.

Emily: So Dean, how long have you been working at Christie's?
Dean: It will be a year in May.

E: What do love most about working here?
D: I like challenges, and the avoidance of task monotony.  I also really enjoy the ability to travel.

E: Ok, so what is the coolest place you have visited while traveling for work?
D: I loved DC, because my wife was able to travel with me and we were able to sightsee along the way.  Minneapolis in the winter was a neat experience, because I got to play soccer in the snow. In Chicago, I ran alongside the lakes. Long car trips with Bob are fun, too.  Basically, I get to see all kinds of different places and that makes work enjoyable.

E: So let's cover some basics.  What is your favorite food?
D: Bananas.  Me and my wife go through 30-40 a week.  They're like the cheapest thing ever.

E: How about your favorite animal?
D: A dog.
E: Really? Over any other wild animal, including tigers and giraffes?
D: Yes.
E: You have a couple dogs, right?
D: I have 2.  Both are American Lab Retrievers.

E: Why did you choose to start working in graphic design?
D: The short answer is because I always expressed my ideas visually.

E: Ok, so what is you favorite font?
D: Favorite font...proabably Helvetica.  I'm goo-goo ga-ga over Helvetica.

E: I know you moved here many years ago, but where are you from originally?
D: I grew up in Novi Sad, Serbia.  During my time there, though I lived in the same location, I technically lived in 4 different countries.  I lived in 2 different Yugoslavias, and Serbia Montenegro, then Serbia.  I loved the language and customs, and I loved the sports culture. There was a lot of emphasis on education, and I love the geography.  It's very much the same as living here, other than economically.

E: What place would you most like to visit?
D: New Zealand.

Special thanks to Dean for taking time out of his busy day for us to squeeze in some questions. And no you know our staff a little bit better!
